When Obi Wan was tasked by Leai to get R2 to the rebels, he is being given the same task or mission to finish which Galen / Jyn started but failed to complete. The Erso Theme ( ) is not just about Jyn, but also relates to her father and the mission to destroy the Death Star by getting the plans. The 3 notes appear twice in the scene when Obi Wan was talking to Luke about that he is too old for the mission in his homestead (SW OST, Tales of a Jedi Knight 3:33 minute mark, ). Star Wars Oxygen ( ), a podcast on John William's SW music reveals that Micheal Giacchino reuse 3 notes from a clip in ANH to construct the new Erso Theme. The reason the original SW opening theme is long is because the crawl is more than a minute long to give us enough time to finish reading it. Its only a few seconds long therefore the Rogue One Title Theme reflects that. The opening was Lucas Film's decision as to not use the crawl but starts with a prologue and then the Title logo appears.
